Oceanfront Resort Transformation In Pompano Beach
The Pompano Beach Marriott renovation by Key International is a comprehensive multi phase transformation of the resort’s oceanfront property, including the renovation of 219 guest rooms across two hotel towers.
Carefully executed in phased sequences, the project was designed to allow hotel operations to continue seamlessly throughout construction while enhancing the overall guest experience.
The Challenge
- Renovating an occupied oceanfront hotel while maintaining guest experience, daily operations, event schedules, and phased turnover commitments.
- Completing 219 guestrooms and major public areas within tight site constraints, limited staging, and active guest circulation while managing demolition, debris removal, material handling, mold remediation, and concealed conditions.
- Integrating new systems, technology, finishes, and custom millwork into a 30+ year old building with aged infrastructure.
- Navigating coastal environmental regulations, including FWC turtle lighting compliance.
The Approach
- Developed phased logistics plans to separate active work zones from guest facing areas while keeping the hotel operational.
- Coordinated closely with hotel operations to schedule noisy work, deliveries, inspections, shutdowns, and turnovers around occupancy, events, and revenue sensitive areas.
- Provided field driven solutions for existing condition conflicts, remediation, system upgrades, and constructability issues without compromising design intent.
- Utilized drywall self perform work to improve control over production, quality, schedule, and owner cost.
The Outcome
- Modernized guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, meeting areas, porte cochere, pool deck, and amenities into a refreshed resort style property that repositioned the hotel as one of the top ranked properties in Pompano Beach.
- Delivered a 72,000 gallon zero entry saltwater pool and spa as a centerpiece of the upgraded outdoor experience, complemented by over 100 new trees.
- Met critical operational turnover dates while consistently maintaining quality, safety, and guest facing standards.

The project includes upgrades to the lobby, porte cochere arrival experience, open air restaurant and bar, meeting spaces, and the resort style pool and amenities deck.
